Standard Typesetting Service

Price: £150.00 (Included in our Gold and Platinum Legacy packages)

Our technicians will layout the interior look of your book in a most professional manner, and in line with the book’s genre and intended audience. Your ideas and concepts are also taken into consideration. We will maintain consistency of font types, chapter openings and section formats. The formatting will involve custom page design, including positioning of images, tables, borders as well as image and text orientations.

Advanced Typesetting Service

Price: from £250.00

If your manuscript involves more than six images, or is a full-colour children’s book, then we strongly recommend our Advanced Typesetting Service. As well as employing the elements of the Standard service, our team will enhance and format your book’s images in order to ensure a high quality and professional look to its interior.

Features of our Typesetting Service

Page design and layout.
This is usually called desktop publishing or DTP. Once we have a page design that you are happy with, we will prepare the book page by page to that design. If there are any photographs, illustrations, figures or tables, they will be included in the text at the appropriate place. If we need to prepare figures or scans, there will be a small additional charge. There are many parameters that are to be considered at the Typesetting stage, (especially if you are using Microsoft word,) such as:

• laying out your page in 'mirror margin' mode

• margin dimensions

• headers and footers (different text on odd and even page numbers)

• page numbering

• section breaks

• footnotes and endnotes

• chapter fonts; section headings fonts; sub-headings fonts; header/footer fonts

However, our professional service uses more advanced DTP packages such as QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign. You can, however, produce a Microsoft word file, and we will create for you a post-script file, then ultimately a print-ready PDF book block file.
You may have written a manuscript or document that you do not wish to publish right away, but want to see and show others its design and look. It may also be a one-off book that you are doing for a specific purpose. e.g. a family-tree profile book, as a gift, or a University dissertation.
